Steven D. Marcus
Steven D. Marcus is a policy impact and government relations strategist who has spent more than 12 years leveraging relationships and building a government administration background to advance community and policy interests. Early in his career, Steven returned to his hometown to serve as the Regulatory Affairs Director for the City of Gary, IN. and later accepted the role as Government Affairs Senior Advisor of a mid-size engineering corporation. In-between the opportunities at home, Steven served as the State Constituency Director for the Hillary for America campaign. Committed to being a lifelong learner and growing in public service, he participated in multiple prestigious and selective programs while in Indiana – Next City Vanguard (2016), the Indiana Democratic Party Emerging Leaders Project, and Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business Executive Coaching Program. He is also the former Vice-President of the Lake County, Indiana Democratic African American Caucus, former Program Manager for President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative (Gary, IN.), and former President of the Urban League of Northwest Indiana Young Professionals. As a Senior Advisor at Global Government and Industry Partners, LLC. (2GIP), Steven is tasked with developing and executing the company’s strategy to engage partners and clients in support of government affairs and strategic advisory services. He remains steadfast in his commitment to bettering his community and inspiring young men of color to pursue public service. Recently re-appointed in 2018 by Mayor Karen Freemen-Wilson, he furthers his passion for promoting socio-economic equity through his role as Chairman for the Gary Commission on the Social Status of Black Males. He also serves on the ShineHard Foundation board, a non-profit aiming to close the wealth gap for minority men and women. Steven studied Architectural Engineering at Purdue University and received his Master of Architecture from Hampton University.
